The deal is that you must acquire a "Macintosh modem cable" with a mini-DIN-8 plug on one end and a DB-25 male plug on the other end. This is a readily available cable used to connect Macs to modems. Then, build the adapter as shown in Figure 8 for the Mac modem cable. [The reason for this method is that (1) Mac modem cables are easily acquired and (2) DB-25 to RJ-11 connectors are also easily acquired, but mini-DIN-8 to RJ-11 connectors are not (with the exception of Phonenet, which has the wrong wiring for our application).] -Fred
