General Procedure

Before turning on engraver

  1. Shut the doors
  2. Turn on the window fans

Right before using the engraver

  1. Check window fans
  2. Check filter
  3. Desired material inside engraver
  4. Focus the laser head
  5. Check the size
  6. Correct material setting

DO NOT

  1. Cut or engrave glass, metal, and other reflective materials
  2. Cut or engrave explosive, hazardous, or otherwise dangerous materials
  3. Cut or engrave PVC
  4. Cut deeper than 1/4" with wood or other high particle materials
  5. Engrave deeper than 1/16" with wood or other high particle materials

Before you leave

  1. Crank up the fans to the maximum time
  2. Turn off the laser engraver

(If you have time, please come back and close up the fans AFTER they have turned themselves off)

Something is wrong...

  1. Lift the lid to stop the laser
  2. If there is fire, put it out
  3. If there is danger, scream and yell loudly

General Rules

  1. PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES, THE LASER ENGRAVER IS VERY EXPENSIVE [and also dangerous]
  2. Power no higher than 85
  3. Velocity no higher than 60
  4. TID students must always be supervised when using the laser
  5. Don't know? Unsure? Ask, don't do
  6. Observe computer and machine courtesy
  7. Only use your own materials
  8. Don't bother the lab assistants in the adjacent rooms
  9. Don't pass the blue line
  10. Watch for nerf darts
