- 12/01/06: Write an original 12-bar blues based on either "Bessie's Blues" or "Blue Trane."
- 11/20/06: Read pp. 73-75 in Jazz Theory.
- 11/15/06: Write a close-position (or drop 2/3) piano trio
arrangement of Miles Davis's "Solar." Score the arrangement for any
of the suggested combinations of 4 or 5 horns.
- 11/08/06: Write a close-position piano arrangement of the A
section of "Gone With The Wind" and an arrangement of the B section in
a different voicing style. Add bass and drum parts.
- 11/01/06: Using Sibelius, make a hardcopy of your
tune in lead sheet form (i.e., including chord symbols).
- 10/30/06: Do Exercise 2 on p. 50 in Jazz Theory.
Write both the A and B sections of your tune.
- 10/18/06: Do Exercise 1 on p. 50 in Jazz Theory.
- 10/13/06: Read pp. 40-46 in Jazz Theory and do
Exercise 1 on p. 46. Include an appropriate bass line.

- 10/06/06: Read pp. 35-40 in Jazz Theory.
- 10/04/06: Do Exercise 1 on p. 41 of Jazz Theory. Make
three copies so we can play the tune in class.

- 9/27/06: Do Exercise 2 on p. 29 in Jazz Theory using
the tune handed out in class. Write only the bass line.
- 9/25/06: Read pp. 25-28 in Jazz Theory and do
Exercise 1 on p. 29 using the tune handed out in class.
- 9/22/06: Do Exercise 6, p. 24, in Jazz Theory, using
the tune handed out in class.
- 9/20/06: Do Exercise 5, p. 23, in Jazz Theory
- 9/18/06: Read Jazz Theory, pp. 19-21 ("Tensions" to
