My name is Patrick Son, and I am a student starting my junior year at UMass Lowell. I am majoring in Computer Science. I am from Weymouth, Massachusetts, and graduated from Weymouth High School in 2013.
Some people don't enjoy programming at all. "Coding's not for me", they'll say. "It's so tedious" or "It's too hard". I'm quite the opposite. I love programming; I elect to do it in my free time. Each program is like a puzzle asking to be solved. The feeling of relief, happiness, and pride that you get when you finally solve that program-breaking bug makes it all worth it. Here's a list of the programming languages I'm familiar with right now:
As you can probably tell from looking at this website, I also know HTML and CSS. Speaking of languages, también puedo hablar en español con soltura.
As much as I enjoy programming, there are plenty of other things that I like as well. One of my favorite ways to unwind is to play video games (Does liking programming and video games make me a nerd?). Some of my favorite game franchises include Super Smash Bros, the Legend of Zelda, and Halo.
I also love soccer. I don't get to play as often as I used to, especially after I tore my ACL (the only major injury I've ever had, which has put me in the operating room twice). But when I do play, I like to play defense. There's nothing more satisfying than repeatedly stopping the other team's prima-donna striker from scoring.
Who doesn't like music? My favorite genre is electronic, but I also enjoy a wide range of songs and artists (Nobody can resist a good pop song). My favorite bands right now are Daft Punk, Justice, and the Glitch Mob. If you'd like, you can check out my current favorite songs on Spotify (requires a free Spotify account).
