Decathalon/Heptathalon Formuala/tables.
These were posted to t-and-f email list awhile back..
I've played around with the formula's a bit..
The running events seem to be fine... but I had some trouble converting
the field events. If I get a chance I will put them in my prediction page.

They are normally used for performance, but if you take an event score
and see what that value gives in some other event....
  you can predict? ... that you should be able to do the same level of
performance in an other event... (not really... but that's one way
 of comparing a shot put to a 100 meter dash)

I see someone requested the decathlon formulas on the net yesterday:
The formula follows the following format
	Points=A*(B-P)^C		for Running Events
	Points=A*(P-B)^C		for Field Events
	P is your performance in the units described below
	A, B, and C are constants

Event		A		B		C		P

100		25.437		18.0		1.81		sec
LJ		0.14354		220		1.40		cm
SP		51.39		1.5		1.05		m
HJ		0.8465		75		1.42		cm
400		1.53775		82		1.81		sec
110H		5.74352		28.5		1.92		sec
DT		12.91		4.0		1.1		m
PV		0.2797		10.0		1.35		cm
JT		10.14		7.0		1.08		m
1500		0.03768		480		1.85		sec

	All times are automatic, add 0.24 for hand times for the 100 and
110 Hurdles, add 0.14 for hand times in the 400m

	These work very well, I havn't checked them extensively, but they
are very accurate as far as I can tell.

	My dad got these from Rex Harvey, who helped develop them back in 1985.

If there are any other questions regarding this let me know.

re:  decathlon scoring tables

 I have formulas for the heptathlon and decathlon tables I believe to
accurate.  I obtained them from
Mike Renfro and Kirk Blackerby, who appearently did a series of regressions
to calculate them.

For running events, use the formula:

Points = Int [ A * (B-M)^C ]

 where A, B and C come from the table below and M is the time (in seconds)
 * means multiply; ^ indicates that C is an exponent; 'int' means greatest
integer

EVENT                 A                  B                 C
100m hurdles (w) 9.23075    26.7          1.835
200 meters (w)    4.99087     42.5         1.81
800 meters (w)    0.11193     254          1.88
100 meters (m)    25.4348     18            1.81
400 meters (m)    1.53775      82           1.81
110m hurdles (m) 5.74354      28.5        1.92
1500 meters (m)  0.03768      480         1.85

For field events, use the formula:

 Points = Int [ A * (M - B)^C ]
