Role and Multiplicity
Two other properties must be specified for each of the N component entity types in the relation:
(1) The entity’s multiplicity or cardinality (the min and max number of relation instances in which it may occur).
(2) The entity’s role or semantic meaning (how it is used, its meaning or significance in the relation).
