The directory  gencpp97f_tjantzen contains an earlier attempt 
to make gencpp (the author has no faith in the idea and failed
because we didn't have enough time to interact on it).

gencpp_97su_bohu_rev.html is a predecessor which also failed. 

gencpp_nt is a symlink to $CASE/2kf522/gencpp_nt/  where
Naiyana Tansalarak produced a valuable refactoring plan 
for gencpp, and .ppt slides comparing chgen to gencpp 
architecture by means of structure charts for chgen,
gencpp and pr_util. See 2kf522_gencpp_nt.txt for her
guidelines on macro call changes from chgen to gencpp
and on building gencpp.

The team of Kathy Miu and Mark Ottesen followed ntansala 
and did an excellent job over two semesters, 
fixing platform dependencies and adding log/relay,
obviously with at least quadruple 
The effort of a one-semester, one-person project.

Mark Ottesen also followed up with a genjava project,
genjava is like gencpp - it auto-generates database code from
a .sch schema file.

genjava hasn't yet been factored into the bde2java product,
a sister to bde on unix/X11.
