However, advertiser want to know how much traffic a website sees before they are willing to pay (just like advertiser in printed media, who want to know the circulation). And businesses who are supporting their own sites also want to know how much traffic there is through the site.
But the question is much more complicated than a simple "hit counter." There is a growing need to obtain detailed data, and to provided in-depth analysis on the amount of traffic through a site, its patterns, those components of the site that attract traffic, those that don't, how users use the site, and much more.
This project provides a broad spectrum of opportunities to develop aspects of a very important capability that is getting in more demand every day.
