The home page should provide a concise list of all colloquia, ordered by their date. There should be a date, time, location, speaker, title of talk.
The location should be a hyperlink to directions how to get there.
The speaker's name should be a hyperlink to a short biography.
The title of the talk should be a hyperlink to and abstract, which should include keywords/phrases.
At the bottom of the page there should be a hyper link for submission of new talk announcements, and another one for requests to be put on, or removed from the announcement distribution e-mail list.
To add a talk announcement directly to the database, you should be authorized (user ID, password), so that the database does not get flooded by bogus announcements from an intruder. Non-registered users can submit an announcement by e-mail. A human moderator will have to process those.
There should be a mechanism for a user to become authorized to post announcements (an application form, with e-mail acknowledgment and response).
Talk announcements get posted on the page, and get sent automatically to an e-mail distribution list.
A search mechanism should let users to search for talks on their topics of interest.
Nice features could include links to - and searches of - talks at other institutions, as well as other features.
Be creative.
