Here are some links to some interesting sites that I have found while perusing through the web. Maintenance on this thing is relatively low - I've got other stuff to do!
Legacy bit from when the only thing you could get off Mosaic was W3C's listing. Quite frankly, search portals are everywhere, but for old time's sake,
Lists
Yahoo(briefly Netscape's default index),
Search Engines
Google, current favorite
engine with nice caching function for reviving dead links (links
to the living dead),
Alta Vista, when you are
looking for sheer volume of results
Metacrawler
- One of those "we look at 6 engines so you won't have to" (statistically
speaking, a better bet than anything - see Info.Retrieval,
Baeza Yates & Ribeiro-Neto, ACM 1999)
Geography
Yahoo's Map find feature based on
Mapquest's
software, but I find Yahoo's interface less cluttered and easier to use
with a quick link to local services
The HCI Group at UML - Our Lab Research Group
LowellCHI - Student ACM/SIGCHI chapter @ UML
Central Park Information - what can I say, I'm from NY (check out
Opera in the park and philarmonic in the park over the summer)
Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Be sure to visit
the Cloisters
Chile links - Links about Chile
WebMuseum - this connects to the nearest to Lowell (U.NC).
Access to Sunsite's network of virtual galleries.
This American Life- Absolutely the best radio stories on
American air waves these days. Almost all stories available
on Real Audio from their site: In particular
DON'T WORRY- You have found a way to link to the
Consumate Hitchhickers Guide to the Galaxy.
