The quiz will cover through Chapter 3.  Be sure to do homework 5 before the exam.
A good way to study for the exam is to do additional exercises from Chapters 1 to 3
that were not assigned as homework.  The quiz will be open book.  You can consult
your text and the LPL web page during the exam, but no other material.   (Remember
that the solutions to selected exercises are posted on the LPL web page, and you
are entitled to consult them if you chose to.  A solution that is posted on the LPL web
page (if there are any such solutions posted) counts for half the number of points that a
solution that is not posted counts.  You should submit your solutions for
the quiz to the grade grinder as usual.  Be sure to instruct the grade grinder
to send a copy of your final solution to the instructor.  If you are unable for any reason
to submit electronically, you can turn in your solutions on paper.  You do not need
to turn in your answers on paper if you submit electronically.

The quiz will be held at our usual meeting time and place (OS 102) on Wednesday
October 10, as listed on the course syllabus.
