Assignment 6 – part 2
Section 2 – Given
an Eagle board, write the toolpath for the Roland CAMM-I
We found out that the Roland software can import bitmap files. So we made a bmp image from the board image in Eagle. Then, Andrew used a unix based graphics software, similar to photoshop, to make the line white and darken the areas around the lines. In effect this made the negative that we needed. Then we imported the bitmap image into Roland software. Finally, we did a saveas in the Roland software to the Roland proprietary file format.
When we opened the translated file, the graphics looked very
crude and not fine accurate to be milled. Also, the scale was not correct. Although
the resolution was not acceptable and the scaling had to be resolved, the milled areas were correct.
