James,

Thank you for the reading suggestions! I realize my "review" was
inadequate. I suspect part of my difficulty with interesting my kids in
Logo is that I am by no means comfortable with it myself...I just haven't
spent the time playing with it. So I've been to the used book stores and
picked up ancient texts that take you step by step. [to square, to polyspi,
etc.] I was able to teach basic robotics to adult autoworkers while staying
just 2 steps ahead of the class (The curriculum was thrown at us 2 weeks
before the class started!) but I do believe, from following the discussions
here, that a fairly deep understanding of the undertaking is necessary to
guide someone else through it.

I have great respect for the limitless possibilities opened up by the
language. I have long felt that computer programming should be a required
part of curricula at every level, precisely because of the discipline and
thinking skills one develops attempting to solve problems in a logical
environment. This is a liberal-arts major's view, but I believe if you can
think clearly enough to tell a computer what you want it to do,
communicating with people (who have actual reasoning and interpretive
powers!) should be a snap!

Anyway, thanks for your input!

Valerie
