Homework Assignments: <- click on this link to see hw assignments
- Homework is worth 10% of your grade , but will negatively affect your quiz and test grades as well if you don't practice!
- Homework is due on the assigned day. If at least half is done, you MAY get half credit (my discretion).
- Start homework on a new page each day with your name, the date, and the assignment on the top of the page.
- Use a pencil and show all of your work. No work = no credit.
- Work down, not across the page. Leave a space between problems. Don't crowd your work.
- HW should be shown at the beginning of class in your organized notebook!
Standing Rules On All Quizzes & Tests...
- Quizzes and tests are the remainder of your grade (UCE = 15% in Q1, Q2; Portfolio = 5% in Q1)
- Use a pencil
- Show your work or risk getting zero credit even if you do get the correct answer--I'll assume you copied it from someone else or it was a lucky guess, both of which are worth zero points!
- Label axes on graphs with variables or names and units when available
- Arrows on axes, arrows on end of functions unless they don't go on forever, in which case you should make a quick note of the real-life domain and range restrictions
- Simplify your answers!
- Depending on situation, reduce fractions, factor completely, get rid of complexx fractions, rationalize radicals, write polynomials in standard or factored form, etc.
- If working on a problem relating to the "real world" use decimals if needed, but round properly. E.g., don't give an answer with 8 decmila places if all of your numbers used limit you to one or two. Think of significant digits from science!
- Always provide units on problems related to real-world numbers!
Notebook
- Each Quarter I'll check you notebook to make sure it is neat, organized, and complete (quiz grade)
- Use a three ring binder divided up into the folling sections...
- Class Notes and your reading notes (and handouts used for notes or class work)
- Homework (including hw handouts)
- Tests & Quizzes with attached CORRECTIONS
- Organize each section chronologically (or use reverse chronological order)
