History of Wei-qi

Wei-qi is one of the oldest board game in the history of mankind. The Chinese game of weiqi, better known to us by its Japanese name Go, was originate in China thousands of years ago. Some say it was about 2000-3000 years ago, and some say it was about 4000-5000 years ago. By the time of Confucius (around 600 B.C.), wei-qi had already become one of the "Four Accomplishments" (along with brush painting, poetry and music) that must be mastered by the Chinese gentleman. Wei-qi entered Korean and Japanese culture through trade and other contact between countries in the first millennium A.D. Today, wei-qi still be play by many people (Young adult, grand-pa/grand-ma, children, men and women) through out Asia (Europe and United States too~!!!). There is a Go Association in the United States and they have some good players too.

If you interest and want to play wei-qi, please contact me or you can click Go's Lesson for more information about the game.

Before I let you go, I going to tell you something. If you have time, you can watch Hikaru no Go. It's a Japanese anime that based on wei-qi.
