Practical Exam

Blue Cohort

The Things You Should Know:

  • The purpose of this program is to correctly identify the desired colored ball and capture it with a servo motor. Then it will take it to the goal using proportionally controlled light following.
  • For this program I use a toggle switch to choose the desired color, a servo motor to grab the ball,a light sensor to determine if the color is correct, and two light sensors in the front to light follow to the goal.
  • For debugging the best tool was the cricket display because it help me synchronize my sensor values and keep them consistent.Another helpful tool was placing different LED values so I could always tell which part of the program I was in.

Questions

Is your program really good and does it accomplish what you want it to do?

Not quite, sometimes the servo goes down or up when it shouldn't.Sometimes the light following is flawed and I don't have as much control as I would like(using buttons). In addition its hard for the create to identify the yellow ball.

Do you have anything good to say about this project?

Yes,I made good use of the toggle switch which flips between searching for the blue or yellow balls.I also implemented my code from my braitenburg vehicle which turned out to be successful.Lastly,I've spent over 25 hours working at Umass in the last five days to get my code program working as good as possible.I did my best and I don't have any regrets.

Did I procrastinate?

No,I can honestly say I gave my best effort on this.

Last Words:

  • If I had a little more time I would install safety features and give the robot a search pattern with some randomness. I'd also work out any of the little bugs that might exist in my current code.
