The there is a keyboard that responds to a charge or signal sent by the wand when it comes in contact with one of the keys. The keyboard also has the mouse bottuns on it and a mouse pad. This product costs about $350 for an online order. This is not suited to our client because of the wands thin shape which prevents her from grasping it tightly. MicroPoint Pointing Device - http://www.streettech.com/archives_hardware/microPoint.htmlThis pruduct works by having the mouse attached to the pad. It is designed to allow clients to scroll without having to pick up the mouse when it reaches the pad. This product costs $80 for a PC and $100 for a MAC. This is a helpful feature but it is still a difficult item for our client to grasp and she will have trouble using the buttons. Microsoft Mousekeys - http://www.microsoft.com/enable/training/windowsxp/mousekeys.aspxThis is a feature on most if not all Windows OSs. It allows you to control the pointer with the keys on the keyboard. This is problematic because it requires multiple keys to be held down to move the mouse in smaller more precise movements which our client will have difficulty doing. This is free provided you use windows. Point-N-Click - http://www.polital.com/pnc/This is a free software that allows people to move the mouse by clicking buttons on the computer screen. It is rather confusing as you need to use the mouse to press the buttons. It is possible I misunderstood the description but that is what it seemed like. |
