TEAMS Graduation Party Planning
Last year we held graduation on June 9 (a week after Billerica's graduation). We started with a "mini design fair" to show our special guests your ATDF projects to VIPS (Senator Panagiotakos, Chancellor Meehan, Vice Provost Pierson, and Dean Greenwood and others), followed by some brief speeches and graduation ceremony (you get your bats and a special diploma you'll treasure forever and ever), and finally a cookout-style picnic. Dress was summer casual.
You can take charge and help us design/plan this event. We should pick two possible dates ASAP to pass along to the VIPs who want to come. How do Tuesday June 9 or Wednesday June 10 sound? Last year we ran the event from 4:30 - 6:30 pm (and set up from 3 pm to 4:30 pm). I wasn't impressed by the "cookout" put on by Aramark, so we might want to rethink that part. Maybe a whiffle ball game with your bats? Can they stand up to a whiffle ball? Egg toss and water balloons??
Your ideas??
- I think that June 9th or 10th will be fine but that it should be longer than just 2 hours, maybe 3...? Also while the cookout may not have worked last year we can combine the cookout with a potluck theme and have everyone bring a dish and a desert. Beyond that the "mini design fair" is a good idea, as are the speeches. Maybe we could also have games...? idk just an idea. - Chris
- Aramark Cookout huh? Sounds like prison food. I'd rather eat Jen Shields' brownies and Chris' stuffed peppers -Max PS:One final paintball session that night anyone? Mr. Rhine/Dalphond/Harmon/Doherty/Sanborn/Jumper and Ms. Thomas invited?
- I think it would be fun
- Definately agree that 9th or 10th works. Cookout sounds like a good idea, maybe we can get some parents to cook for us? Some food donted from different places too? I think all our teachers would be invited too. Where would this be exactly? If we had a field or ssomething of the sort we definately should play sum wiffle ball with our bats and a bunch of fun games. I like the extension of 1 additional hour as well, it gives us that much more time to party. Music?!? We probably need to make a playlist and get a stereo. Id be willing to come and help set up, and if we played water baloon toss, Mr Rhine would have to play =). - George
- Could we please please please try for the ninth? my little sister's birthday it the tenth and i would absolutely hate to have to miss this party! Other than that the potluck would be great and i agree with george, whatever games we play Mr Rhine HAS to play with us!! ~ Ali
- Hahaof course teacher participation is a requirement ;) it wouldnt be as fun without them - Chris
We should have an Ultimate Frisbee game.
- Ultimate Frisbee sounds awesome! I also like the idea of using our bats for a wiffle-ball game. If we wanted some food donated, there's this restraunt in my town that we can try who has great food and does stuff like this all the time. On another note, I wanted to invite Josh Maldonado from Lawrence and Amelia Hunt from Andover to come join us in our festivities, because they were with us for a good chunk of the time! Does anybody object, because I already told Josh I would let him know when the date is and stuff like that. -Rachel
- No. Rachel why ever would you think of an idea as terrible as inviting Amelia and Josh. And since sarcasm isnt exactly portrayed well through text, IM KIDDING, excellent idea. And most definately a game of ultimate :) ~ Ali
- If we didnt invite them, I think Josh would cry, lol, he misses us all. I think Mr. Rhine said that he is sending them invitations to the party..... I'm not sure..... I was very close to getting a kick*** frisbee that lights up, but my mom said that I couldn't... :( so if anybody could bring an awesome frisbee, that would be cool! -Rachel
- Party at my house!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!!...jk....but i agree with max's idea - francisqo
- Frisbee is the only option cuz the rest of them are stupid. I also think we should invite Josh cuz I was talking to him and he says that he misses us.
- I have plenty of frisbees, but I don't think I can come because of softball. I may be able to catch the end if it is extended a little longer because I would really like to go! And Max, were you insulting my brownies? -Jen Shields
- I would prefer the graduation party be on June 9th. ~Lauren
