Project management overview
- Major challenge:
Our challenge was to write the codes for finding the egg, determining the color, and caring the right color egg to the goal. We started working on sensing the egg à capturing the egg with the servo motor à drive forward. However, somehow it was not working and had problems in coding
- What coordination successes/problems did I have?
It was hard to share the robot in doing this project. It required many hours of consistent work, but at the same time we had to share the cr8. It made even harder because if my partner was working on his code then I had to wait and it was hard to stop him in the middle of his writing code to work on my part. Also It needed to be work in the lab on the egg hunt table to get measures and light sensors, it was hard to do it at home. In addition, I could not just do this project, but I had my high school works and midterms to study for.
- What would I do differently?
Being patient if I do it again. Coding and programming took a lot of time and needed careful attentions. If there was one word misspell or missing a line the cr8 can do totally different thing as you intended or doesn’t do anything. Since I was very anxious about timing and tried to do many things in little time I was very rushed.
- Evenly worked?
Most of the code writings was done by Scott, but I did most of the building and placement of the sensors. Placement of the orange plate, securing the servo motor, attaching Popsicle stick to the servo motor and to the arm of the cr8, attaching the wheels, etc.
Result
My part of the code is not completed yet. As a group we worked on the actually capturing of the egg rather than from the beginning. We assume that it will be a little bit easier and require less time doing the search pattern for the cr8, so if we are to work more on it we probably can have a cr8 with done codes that can attempt in getting an egg.
A Lesson Learned
- Required lots of time & efforts
- There are two different kinds of servo motors: continuous rotation & non-continuous rotation
- There are so many different ways to complete the task(but just need a lot of time & creativeness)
