The Laundry Bot

   | The Robot

What does it do?

  • drives in a spiral search pattern, looking for socks
  • when it finds a sock, it picks it up with the claw
  • sorts laundry whether it is black and white and drops it in either of the two baskets
  • returns to its search pattern
  • times out after two minutes

My Process

I did these different tasks...

  • planned out and built the robotic arm (one week)
  • created individual functions for the different movements of the robotic arm (2 days)
  • experimented with my different sensors and sensor values (2 days)
  • created the code in its entirety (3 days)

Go Laundry!

Outstanding Issues

Problems you may (hopefully not) see...

- My servo motor does not seem to have the strength to turn my robot's arm
- The light levels in each room can change my robot's efficiency at sorting laundry by color
- Sometimes my wires become tangled; hopefully I have remedied this

If I had more time I would

- add effective bump sensors and distance sensors to prevent the robot from driving into the wall
- streamline the design of the robot
- fix everything that doesn't quite work!
