Project Management Overview
- Major Challenges
- I think a challenge that we encountered during this project was understanding each other's parts of the egg hunt. For example, I found that I made more mistakes using distance sensors or understanding completely how my partner used it for locating an egg because I had worked on Braitenberg. It wasn't a big challenge but it I would think it would hinder us from helping our partners completely. ~Chandni
- Another challenge came right towards the end, where we were having a lot of trouble using braitenberg to find the goal because our hardware wasn't functioning correctly. This definately stopped me from being able to complete both the practical and the egghunt. ~Chandni
- Some other problems included strategy and design. Chandni and I were very proud of our robot and it's sensor placement, and I was rather fond of her original trapper design, but after much trial and error, we learned that our design needed to be altered in order to better complete the tasks at hand. ~Allison
- What coordination successes/problems did you have?
- I think we coordinated very well during this project. We effectively communicated, and we didn't let ourselves fall behind. We were also able to effectively split up time with our robot, so that if we had wanted to work on it, we could do so. Also, if we couldn't get a robot, we signed out an overnighter. So, overall, I would say that we coordinated quite efficiently. ~Chandni
- Chandni and I definitely coordinated very well for this project. Over vacation we emailed each other and discussed our ideas via our discussion page. We also contacted each other and made arrangements to swap robots with each other over the vacation. As for the rest of the project, I felt that Chandni and I kept up with our communication and we both met at UML over the weekend to work on the project more. I felt that Chandni had my back and I had hers! ~Allison
- Procrastination or other problems?
- I think both Allison and I were very good about staying on track and not letting ourselves get behind. The only problem might have been when we were finishing up our Lab 5 sections later than expected, which also slowed down our egghunt programming. ~Chandni
- Overall, I think that Chandni and I stayed on task. During the first weeks of the project, I definitely procrastinated, but as time progressed, I got better. Finishing up Lab 5 though was definitely a draw back that took up much of my time. All in all though, I think that we stayed on task very well. ~Allison
- What would you do differently from a project management perspective?
- Were the tasks evenly divided?
- I would have to say that we definately divided up the tasks evenly and fairly. But, even if it wasn't even, we would help balance that load a little bit differently to help each other out. ~Chandni
- During the beginning stages of the egg hunt, I felt that I wasn't pulling my fair share of the load. As time progressed though, I got better and I definitely think that we shared the work load equally. When Chandni needed help, I felt that I did my best to lend a hand and I felt that Chandni did the same! ~Allison
