Chandni's Egg Trapper:

  • Previously I've said that it would just be a kind of an uncompleted cube that would just extend down infront of the create to trap the ball. This version would only have (in reference to a cube) the top and front faces when you are looking at it.
  • I realize now that if the robot ever turns to the left or right while heading towards the goal, the ball could easily escape through the sides. So now I've included a sort of flap on both sides that would prevent that.
  • Also while building this I had to consider which way the servo motor worked (which position was 0 and which was 255). I used the sample servo code that Mr. Rhine demoed with to help determine that. So I had to build according to the direction it moved.
  • For the materials, I used simple things like cardboard, tape, popsicle sticks, a glue gun (so it's more sturdier), and an index card.
  • I will post pictures of the egg trapper soon.

Back for More!

  • Working on the placement of all our sensors and such, we realized that we needed the egg trapper to have an open "top" so that it could sense the balls (esp color) correctly.
  • My new design was much simpler, using only posicle sticks, super-duper duck tape, pipecleaner, and a strip of aluminum board. It looks similar to Proto-Pi's version of an egg trapper, excepting the fact that string doesn't pull ours up and down.
  • The position of the servo motor itself didn't change.
