Lab 5: Simplified Wimp Mode

Task Description:

When robot is "nudged", it moves forward at 100 mm/sec forward exactly four feet. If the either bumper is briefly touched along the way, the robot rotates 180 degrees away from the hit, then restarts on it's 4 foot escape path. If either bumper is held while the robot is "escaping," it continues to rotate in place "away" from the touched bumper. When bumper is released, it continues the rotation for 180 degrees befond the release point before restarting the 4 foot escape path.

Be sure to include standard "wait for play button" routine to start program, full safety features, a 30 second timer, and a controlled shutdown. Re-use this code from the last two labs, don't reinvent the wheel!!

BONUS: Recreate the actual wimp mode rather than the program above. You must replicate all button and light behavior, safe behavior, etc. If you successfully complete the bonus, you may take the grade (150 points) and average in to any single quiz or test grade you've received to date.

What to turn in (stapled in this order):

  • Completed grading rubric for robot demo
  • Code (formatted & commented properly)
  • Flowchart
  • Typed 1 - 2 page lab report (similar to Line Following report)

Due Date and Early/Late Bonuses/Penalties:
