GiddingsHalf the year has passed and I have finally decided to write something in this page : ) I am the TEAMS Admin TA, so I do a lot of behind the scenes type work including work with our webeditor on our main website, work with the Exploration days, and making the brochure for TEAMS Academy. I am a grad student with the Graduate School of Education, and am hoping to find a full time teaching job for next year teaching high school biology. I got my undergrad degree in biotechnology at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and then worked in an interventional cardiology lab at Mass. General Hospital for a summer, and then I worked at an antibody production company called Abcam. My love for biology and children have led me to this program at Umass Lowell. The summer I worked at MGH was the first summer in years that I hadn't worked at summer camps, and immediately, I could tell that I wasn't going to be happy if I wasn't teaching students. My cells and gels just were not satisfying my need to teach. When I am not here in beautiful Lowell, I am almost always close to a horse. I volunteer with the care of rescue horses at Nevins Farm in Methuen, therapeutic riding at T.H.E. Farm in Tewksbury, and lesson help at American Spirit Farm in Littleton. Along with that, I myself ride two beautiful Lippitts Morgans in Essex and an adorable quarterhorse in Littleton. I will also be a certified equine massage therapist by the end of January, and I will be a licensed riding instructor by this summer hopefully! Our past- the good and the bad- was written from the back of a horse. Our future is a promise to continue being their companions, as they have always been ours. If anyone wants to get into any sort of horse activities, let me know, I would be happy to help! My email here is Monica_Giddings@student.uml.edu. |
