- I am having trouble solving for the pitch speed, because of all the undeclared variables in the equation that we are given. Are we supposed to use a system of equations to solve for ball mass, swing speed, and elasticity? ~Annelise

-Like Annelise, I am also having trouble. Also on the board it says find the hit velocity of the balls while on the web page it says find the pitch speed. I'm assuming we are to find the pitch speed because the hit velocity is listed in that chart right? ~Lisa

-I don't think there's enough information given to solve the problem.~Taylor

Please use the equation:

                 V(1a)=(m1-em2)V(1b)+(m2+em2)V2b/(m1+m2): solve for V1b:

bat weight, batted ball velocity, bat swing speed are given...you should be able to find the weight of the ball. M. Doherty

-I don't see bat swing speed anywhere in that table. I see it in the table below, but that is a completely different experiment. It also does not say it in the paragraph that goes with it. Ball weight is not stated either, but can you assume it is standard? It only says these things are held constant. ~Amber
