16.100 Intro to ECE: Using EAGLE to create a printed circuit board![]()
IntroductionOver the next few weeks you will learn how to use EAGLE, a program by the German company CadSoft that is used to lay out printed circuit boards. Why do this? Over the next couple of years you will be studying circuits & electronics with the goal of learning how to design circuits. At some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, you will want to built these circuits. Initially you will use breadboards to prototype and test your circuits. However, if you need a prototype that is a bit more robust, you may want to use a perforated board or wire wrapping board, or perhaps even to lay out a printed circuit board using EAGLE, or some other CAD tool to minimize the size, noise, and maximize the performance of your circuit. Using EAGLE is fairly easy (with a bit of coaching), and you can can start using it immediately to fabricate personal projects or projects for class. Our time line for the next few weeks...1. Do this at home ASAP: Download and install EAGLE onto your computer
2. Practice at home (work with a friend??) before class on Nov 3: Use EAGLE to lay out a simple timer circuit schematic.
3. Homework (individual assignment due Nov 17 2009): Use EAGLE to lay out a Mint Tin Amp circuit schematic
Homework due Nov 17 2009: Print out your properly labeled LED blinker circuit PCB layout to hand in.
4. Practice at home (work with a friend??) before class on Nov 17: Use EAGLE to lay out a simple simple circuit PCB
