Welcome to
Assistive Technology & Electronics
(25.151 Spring 2008)
AT Announcements!
You must create a list of parts for us to order. Details here
Bill Harmon created sample solutions for you to use for all of the past homework assignments! Remember, many of these problems can be solved many different ways, and Bill, Ms. Thomas, and I are showing you just a few!
In Assistive Technology & Electronics you'll study electrical engineering and use the engineering design process to make devices that help people in our community overcome their disabilities. You'll learn about basic electronics concepts and how to use electronics test equipment in the assistive technology laboratory.
During the course you will apply your knowledge as you work with a small team of your peers to:
- find a disabled client
- develop an understanding of their needs
- develop a concept for a project to help the client (using electonics, of course!)
- brainstorm design alternatives
- prototype and build a final project
- deliver the final project to the client
You will also present your final project at the 6th Annual Assistive Technology Design Fair sponsored by the UMass Lowell College of Engineering and the Future Engineers Center and a Explore integrating robotics and electronics into assistive technology.
