Why Botfest? |
|
The advent of low-cost robotics kits has led to an explosion of interest in robotics. Many students from grade school through graduate school now get hands-on experience learning the fundamental principles of engineering by designing and building robots. Hobbyists can now construct useful robotic devices and whimsical contraptions that were unimaginable even a few years ago.
Robot competitions have become a popular forum in which robotics enthusiasts can publicly exhibit their creations. Botfest is an open-ended robotics exhibition that complements competitive events by allowing greater room for creative expression. It is intended to appeal to a wide range of robot enthusiasts, from novices to experts. If you like building robotic contraptions, Botfest is a perfect place to show off your creations and meet other inventors. We encourage all area robotics enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds to exhibit their creations at Botfest.
New England Botfest will be held in conjunction with Botball and co-located with the New England Regional Botball Tournament. This collaboration enables Botfest participants to watch the Botball Tournament. (In Botball, autonomous robots designed and built by students compete head-to-head in a game that involves putting balls into scoring position.)
If you've registered for the 2008 Botfest event, you should be listed here!
