FinalPaper

From the book, Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Robots: Case Studies of Successful Robot Systems, read the following 3 chapters:

  • Nourbash, "Dervish: An Office-Navigating Robot"
  • Horswill, "The Polly System"
  • Murphy, "Coordination and Control of Sensing for Mobility using Action-Oriented Perception"

Write a 6 to 8 page paper that compares the control architecture of your robot with those of the 3 authors. Compare and contrast your approach to these 3 robots.

Along the way, your paper should present enough information about how your robot works that readers could draw their own conclusions as well.

The paper should include a References section at the end, with citations to these 3 papers (and any others should you make additional references).

There should be a photograph of your robot as well as at least two diagrams:

  • a geometry diagram showing where sensors and actuators are mounted on the robot
  • a block diagram of the software architecture.

Draw inspiration from the diagrams in the papers.

The diagrams and photo can count for no more than 1 page toward the page count, even if they take up more than 1 page. In other words, there must be at least 5 pages of text narrative.

The papers are to be done individually and are due on Thursday, May 17.
